"Dropping protecting facades reveals the real person behind the everyday masks that we usually put on."
A subgroup of the "Theater Osnabrück", a theatre in Osnabrück, Germany, the "Theater der Generationen" asked us to help promote their latest play "Figura". Even though the base theme for the play was the human relationship to their own bodies, we decided to capture facial expressions that reveal the authentic human behind the everyday mask.
Digging deeper into the personal characteristics of the actors with the intention to catch a glimpse of the authentic self. For some, the real personality shines through when all facial muscles are intentionally relaxed - for others, it works better to call upon childhood memories. In any case, we tried to find ways to drop the facades that we humans built for us as a seemingly necessary layer of protection.
